Brian Gross joined Pineapple Payments in 2016 to lead operations with a specific focus on all things tech. Through several platform technology ventures and non-profit involvement, Brian combines all of his experience working with information systems to help teams and organizations make decisions smarter and faster by using readily available data in meaningful ways.
Brian is a self-taught Web developer who put his skills to work as CTO of AthleteTrax, a SaaS company he co-founded in 2012 that provides recreational sports organizations and facilities with cloud-based payment processing and back office management tools. There Brian led a nimble development team as a product owner and developer and most notably implemented a comprehensive quality assurance plan for the company that mitigated risk and prevented much of the technical debt that startup software companies traditionally face. Brian is also formally trained in agile product management and the Scrum framework, which he uniquely applies to business operations to increase transparency and efficiency through effective processes and workflows.
Brian serves on the board of Pittsburgh’s City Theatre, which provides an artistic home for the development and production of contemporary plays of substance and ideas that engage and challenge diverse audiences. Brian is also mentor at AlphaLab, one of the country’s top ranked startup accelerator programs, and serves as an advisor to online travel startup ViaHero that connects travelers with local experts.
He lives in the city of Pittsburgh and enjoys playing ice hockey and spending time with his gaggle of nieces and nephews.
