Introducing, a simple upgrade to EMV. Meet the ID Tech Augusta, an EMV L1-L2 Chip and Magstripe Reader, now fully integrated into Pineapple’s Platform and APIs. Get the convenience of Pineapple’s omni-channel payment tools with the risk reduction of EMV. The Augusta is a powerful upgrade from traditional stripe readers and an affordable alternative to pricey pin pad terminals.

From EMV to FAQ

• Is the Augusta a countertop terminal?
  • It’s a countertop reader. However,  Augusta has mounts, allowing it to be mounted easily to existing POS workstations. The EMV card slot on the top of the Augusta provides convenient cardholder access, an increasingly important factor as merchants seek solutions that reduce their physical contact with the card.
• Can I integrate the Augusta to my custom software?
  • Yes. An ISV can integrate the Augusta into their software and securely send us the encrypted payload via API to process EMV. Some situational considerations should be discussed. Please include your Pineapple representative in the initial conversations so we can help plan the integration.
• How is this different than the existing PAX integration?
  • Full Card Data! – The PAX option was semi-integrated, which meant we never received full card data for those transactions.  The Augusta is directly certified and fully-integrated, enabling full card data benefits. We’re able to tokenize EMV transactions to create recurring billing plans, run follow up transactions, and leverage it for API integrations.
  • No Software to Install – PAX works through our Windows Desktop Application. The Augusta certification is browser-based, so no installation is required and makes it compatible with PCs and Macs.
  • Simple Configuration – PAX depends on an Ethernet connection. The Augusta uses a USB connection, making it “plug-and-play”!
• Can I use Augusta with any processor?
  • We’ve certified the Augusta with TSYS. We’re actively working on additional certifications and will share future updates as our processor compatibility grows.
• How do I purchase?

• What are the boarding requirements?
  • You need a VAR sheet for every reader, including the CNP transactions on the platform (i.e. Platform + 3 Augustas = 4 VARs).
• Where can I find additional resources?

• Can I still swipe the stripe?
  • Yes. For non-chip cards, the Augusta also functions as a magstripe reader, encrypting sensitive magnetic stripe data.
